“And pray in the spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.” Ephesians 6:18 NIV

This season on the race looks very different ministry wise – we are essentially staffing a YWAM base here in Bocas Del Toro, and helping things run smoothly here so other teams can go out and do ministry. It’s such an incredible opportunity to serve behind the scenes and die to self. It has also been incredible to step into the ministry of intercession. The power that prayer is.

As a squad we have been praying for a different Muslim city each day, praying that they would hear the gospel, that they would see visions of Jesus in their sleep, that they would have access to the Bible. And it may not be the ministry I assumed I was signing up for, but it might just be the most powerful one. Our prayers have power and the Lord hears them. How cool would it be to get to heaven one day and meet someone in Indonesia that had a dream of Jesus, and came to know him all because of our prayers, a world away.

This experience has allowed me to fully understand the power of prayer. Through this I have found a much deeper appreciation for the gift that it is talking to the Lord. And also the importance of engaging in prayer as a way to fight our battles.

“For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” ??Ephesians? ?6:12? ?NIV??

In our society we often forget that there is a spiritual realm, and in doing so we don’t engage in the battle. Prayer is that act of going into battle, allowing the Holy Spirit to come alongside us as our Intercessor. Stepping into building a strong prayer life can look like so many different things. You can begin by praying scripture, practicing listening prayer, or praying and interceding for things that are happening around you.

Being reminded of this over the last few months has changed my life. It changed the way I see challenges, it changed the amount of time I spend praying for my people, and it continues to change my intimacy with God. Prayer is life-changing.

With that being said hit me up with any prayer requests!

  2. Thank you for the reminder of where the battle rages- in the spirits and principalities of this world. Please pray for my son, Stephen, that he would return to Jesus.
    Blessings Hadley!
